Review – My Ultimate Dynamic Duo by Burt’s Bees Natural Face Essentials
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Burt’s Bees skin products. I have to say that since using their products I have seen a noticeable change in my skin texture, tone and clarity. If you have or currently do suffer from oily, combination or acne-prone skin I recommend trying out these two products to see if they help you like they have helped me. I have been using the Burt’s Bees Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub for around 4 years. When I started to use it, it was actually in completely different packaging (they went through a redesign of this item and a few others) which just goes to show how loyal I have been to this particular natural cleanser for my face. I wouldn’t recommend a product, especially one that has to do with your skin if I didn’t truly believe it works. So today I am going to just review with you what I call my “Dynaminc Duo” for skin – The Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract & Deep Pore Scrub with Peach & Willowbark.
Product #1: The Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract
(You can buy here average cost is $7-9 dollars for 30 wipes)
I love to have makeup remover wipes or pre-moistened cleansing towelettes in my bathroom and near my makeup vanity at all times. What is great about these wipes is you can use them to get a lot of your eye makeup off without really irritating the delicate skin around your eyes. I also use this after I have washed my face with the deep pore scrub just in case any makeup is still on my face that I may have missed. These wipes are super soft, the softest I have used and I have used TONS of makeup remover wipes in my day. They almost feel like a delicate towel soft like cotton. You can also really hold them and rub them on your face, sometimes other wipes I feel like I have to grip them very tight to hold in place and wipe my face.
Let’s also focus on how BIG these are. They aren’t your tiny mini wipe but they are larger than my hand which makes them so easy to hold on to. Plus you can use one side and then turn over if you still find you have make up on your face. They make my skin feel so clean and these also tone the skin. I usually will use these in the morning to just clean off the products I put on my face before bed and remove any oils from the skin from the night. This gives me a clean slate to apply my daily makeup. If I wear a lot of eye make up for a night out, or if I use eye liner these make for great eye makeup removes in the evening. They also smell amazing and not like medicine or alcohol.

White Tea Skin Benefits:
According to ScienceDaily, the active constituents found in white tea are at such a concentration they have been shown to prevent skin damage due to oxidation, which ultimately enhances your skin’s immune system.
Researchers from the study where this information was derived found that by topically applying white tea extract directly to the skin damaged skin cells were restored and any DNA damage due to sunlight exposure was significantly reduced. Researchers also hypothesize that external application of white tea may actually delay the natural skin aging process due to its extremely high antioxidant concentration.
Product #2: Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub
(You can buy here average cost is $8-11 dollars for a tube or this 2-pack)
Next up on the duo is my holy-grail for my skin which is the Burt’s Bees Peach & Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub. I was in Duane Reade one day in New York City, when I used to work in Manhattan, and pick this up one day. I’m not sure why I did but I had just finished taking Accutane (a prescription medication to help your body produce less oil so as to prevent future breakouts) and wanted to start to use more natural products on my skin. I felt as though after years of putting so many chemicals on my face I wanted to see if the switch to natural products would be better than any of the other cleansers and treatments I was using. As mentioned in previous blog posts, I never had terrible acne. I never had cystic acne. I was actually surprised that my dermatologist even prescribed Accutane to someone who just had your average 20 something hormonal acne skin. It is true though that genetically my mom and mom’s side of my family has oily skin. (They are of Czechoslovakian and Welsh decent if that matters). Anyhow, I took the medicine for months and years later I rarely get a breakout. It took years of testing and trials and countless prescription creams to realize that for me natural products worked SO much better for my skin. (I will do another post of my experience with dermatologists and prescription acne medications – overall I think they were pointless for me). Sorry, I went off on a tangent…the point is that this deep pore scrub saved my skin. Truly. Yes I was battling the monthly break out around the time of my period, but the issue with my skin was it was oily and was not shedding dead skin cells fast enough, which is what caused clogged pores. Around the time of your period you produce even more oil and if you are not getting rid of the dead skin cells then you are creating a breading ground for pimples. It was this product that helped to get rid of the junk and allow the new skin to help itself.
What I needed was something that was a scrub but not an exfoliator that would over stimulate the skin. If the exfoliator is too rough it can actually take out too much of your own natural oils and ironically make your skin produce even MORE oil. (crazy right, to make your skin less oily you shouldn’t remove all the oil but leave some so your skin is tricked to think “I already have some oil, no need to produce more). The ingredients of this scrub is so gentle and the peach and willowbark both have great benefits for the skin. I really have to say this is the best and I buy it in the two pack every 2 months so I never run out. I literally have 3 in my linen closet now cause I always stock up. The tiny seeds in this cream do not rip at your skin, and when you rinse it off you feel so clean and fresh. I love it!

I hope that this review helped you to learn more about my favorite skin cleansing products. As I mentioned if you have acne prone skin this (to me) is the best cleanser and wipes to use to get a clean, fresh face and help stop those break outs. Please consider using more natural skin care products if you have been using all prescription or chemical filled ones. Your skin might just react like mine did which would be a great thing, because no one likes to worry about when the next breakout will come and ruin your day.
