Sunday morning is my favorite time to make a hot, steamy stack of protein pancakes. Over the last year I have been working to make very high protein pancakes without a ton of calories. Many of the pre-made or ready to make versions are low in protein and still high in calories so for me I just decided to whip up my own recipe instead. They came out a little dry but once you put the syrup on they soak it right up and taste delicious. Because they are very high in protein (41 grams for 3 pancakes) you will get pretty full on these so rest assured even if it seems like a small amount of batter it is going to fill you up!
What you will need to make this pancake recipe:
– 2 scoops of Vanilla flavored BodyTech Whey Tech Pro 24 protein powder (buy here)
– 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
– 1/8 cup of water
– 1/4 cup of organic skim milk
– 3 tbsp liquid egg whites
Coat your griddle or non-stick pan with organic extra virgin olive oil spray. Let the pan get nice and hot before you start to add batter to it. Then add an amount similar to the photo above and let it sit for 1-2 minutes. You will know when to flip your pancake when you begin to see the bubbles surfacing. That means its time to turn.
This recipe makes for 3 medium sized pancakes. As I mentioned I use Walden Farms pancake syrup which has zero carbs, zero fat, zero calories and zero sugar. (you can buy here). Once you pour this guilt free syrup on the pancakes start to get fluffier and softer. They are delicious and you can also add some fruit on top or some fat free cool whip too!
Nutritional Information:
For 3 protein pancakes you get 42 grams of protein, 18 grams of carbs and 2 grams of fat.
3 pancakes = 281 calories
*Trust me, you will be full about 3/4 of the way through your dish!*
