Wedding Day Looks to Love – makeup to go with any gown
As a bride to be myself I was thrilled to receive an email from the gals at Lover.ly asking me if I could take some wedding gowns and compliment them with beauty products and wedding day accessories to bring these gorgeous gowns to life. Since I am currently in this exact time in my life this was perfect for me. I am getting married in June this year and have already picked out my gown, but right now I am already thinking about what to do with my hair & makeup. I didn’t know before about the site; I had been primarily using Pinterest, Google and TheKnot to help me plan my ultimate wedding day. What I didn’t realize is there was a site like Lover.ly to help me with styling, inspiration, beauty tips and more to make wedding planning more fun.
So I was tasked to take the 3 gorgeous dresses below and suggest looks and ideas to compliment these styles. I have to say that all three are absolutely beautiful with unique styles and for a very different kind of wedding. The one that reflects my actual gown the most is the lace gown to the left so that one was the most fun for me to do! I also really wish I was able to wear an ombre gown like the center one which is one I saw from Lazaro online and fell in love with. Since my wedding is a more traditional Catholic wedding with church ceremony and ballroom to follow, my gown is much more in line with the lace. Lace to me is absolutely gorgeous, timeless, classic and elegant. I also think the dress on the right is simple and beautiful as well, though I have to admit after trying on one drop waist gown I knew that shape was not for me. Either way, all three dresses are perfect for some bride out there and I hope to inspire you on how to make it all come together with the right hair, makeup and accessories <3
I plan to do these in a series of 3 posts so that I can give enough time to each dress since they are all so unique 🙂 I know just how magical the feeling is to find THE DRESS, it happened to me on my second trip to a bridal salon and I have to say the dress I chose was one I didn’t even think I would go for, but I did and I just cannot wait to wear it on my wedding day. This exercise really gave me some great ideas of what to do with my own hair and make up to compliment my wedding gown. I hope you all enjoy!
So let’s get started, how can we take these dresses and get some more glamour out of them with the right makeup!

Dress #1 Lace Gown with Short Sleeves and Form Fit (Classic & Regal)
For this gown I wanted to create a soft, angelic look with makeup that will last all day and leave the bride looking flushed and beautiful. I also didn’t want to create a matte finish look, but allow a bit of hue and light to hit her face in all the right places. To me lace is soft and delicate so the makeup should be as well. To create this look I recommend the following products:
For cheeks: Nars Blush in Orgasm – here
For Face: Georgio Armani Foundation – here
For Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish – here
For Lashes: They’re Real Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics – here
For Nails: Essie in Ballet Slipper – here
For Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette – here
For Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder – here
For Highlight: HD Highlighter Pen by Makeup Forever – here
For Setting Powder: HD Translucent Powder by Makeup Forever – here
For Lips: MAC Lipstick in Angel – here
Overall the look is soft, natural and like a little cherub so as not to overshadow the dress and the lace details: here is a great example of this look all pieced together below.
Shoes: Christian Loubotin Gold Glitter Strappy Heels – here
Hair: I suggest a loose low chignon to keep the focus on the face and to allow the collar of the dress not to be covered with hair. I think when it comes to lace gowns you should let the beauty of the dress shine and compliment it with natural makeup, not overly dramatic makeup. When the hair is away from the face it also allows you to focus more on the face and not compete with the dress.
In my next post I will focus on dress # 2….stay tuned!
