Here is the front of our Save the Date cards:
We wanted something that looked like a book cover or a movie poster, with romance and softness and beautiful light. We liked also that this image made your eye focus on us as a couple, not just on one person. There were some great shots we could have used, but I thought this one was absolutely perfect. It didn’t focus on just me, or just him – it is us in a beautiful setting without any need to see our faces but just us in the moment like someone was looking in on our relationships. It seemed like a private moment in time we could share with friends and family. We both agreed that this was the photo that we would want people to see on their fridge, that is something to always keep in mind – how does this look when on someone’s fridge or when someone first opens their save the date cards. I personally love the idea of using one photo on the front of a save the date card so that is why we chose this one. When I look at it, it makes me smile 🙂
Here is the back of our save the date card:
Many people do a plain back of their save the date card, or one with a design. I wanted to still show some of the beautiful photos that our photography took (www.sylviainez.com) so on the back we decided to do 3 more images. I wanted a shot of more of our faces and some more of the beauty of the light from that day. I also wanted to show both outfits that I had worn, since blush is the theme color for our wedding also.
Tip: try to find ways to incorporate the colors of your wedding day into your save the date photos. Whether it is in your clothes, backgrounds or in the colors you use for your cards – it is a nice way to tie things together.
I also decided to get the edges of our save the date rounded; i felt like it added a softer touch to the cards. This was an additional charge but i really did think it made the cards look beautiful. I also opted to get our return address printed right on the back of each envelope. Sure I could of bought a stamp to do this, but it was one less thing that I would have to do when they came in and it was much more fool proof than trying to do it myself. It was an additional charge (all these things add up) but one that I felt was worth it.
Expect to spend on average between $250-$450 on really nice save the dates. I didn’t realize how much they cost until you add everything up. I found that Wedding Paper Divas was the best price and the best quality. I didn’t want to sacrifice quality for a good dollar amount. They also have some great promotions and coupon codes which I have listed on this page that you can use.
When you finally submit your order you will make your payment, but in a few days they will email you a digital proof. They have designers who review your submission and then make some suggested edits to your design or copy/text. You can then approve or deny the changes and submit for any edits you’d like. This helps you to catch any errors before you send to the printer. After that, once you approve, you are all set! Just wait for those babies to come in the mail and get excited to start stamping, sealing and sending!
