Daily Nutribullet Protein Shake For Post Workout Recovery

A post-workout protein shake that I actually enjoy drinking

After a hard morning of training at the gym I usually come home starving. To be honest, sometimes I am starving even during my workout, so I know that when I get home I need to make something quick, easy and that tastes great. I also want something that will put back into my body what I just used up during my workout and give it what it needs to repair and recover from a tough routine. Many people have this myth that you “have to drink a protein shake immediately after a workout or you lose all your gains” #broscience

I like to drink protein shakes because sometimes I want to increase my water intake without getting bored of water. Having a 16-20 ounce protein shake that is mostly water helps to keep me hydrated and enjoying drinking it at the same time. As long as you are reaching your goal for protein grams per day it really doesn’t matter when you actually intake the protein, but many people at the gym will tell you having a shake right after is a must-do (it really isn’t, but i just personally enjoy them).

I like to try a variety of protein powders to see what I like the best. I have tried many of the years and will continue to try new ones. Right now at home I have a lot of the new BodyTech protein flavors: chocolate mint, strawberries & cream and cookies & cream. In the morning I really enjoy the strawberry flavor protein. I put 1 scoop of protein in my Nutribullet and 1 scoop of the BodyTech BCAA & Glutamine powder; that powder is tasteless and it supports muscle endurance, growth and recovery. I am a big fan of making sure to get my amino acids in to help with recovery and repairing my muscles after hard lifting sessions.  The protein powder profile is below:

Calories: 120, Calories From Fat: 10, Total Fat: 1gm, Saturated Fat: .5gm, TRANS FAT: 0gm, Cholesterol: 40mg, Sodium: 160mg, Potassium: 120mg, Total Carbohydrate: 3gm, Dietary Fiber: 0gm, Sugars: 1gm, Protein: 24gm,

To make this strawberry and banana protein shake:

1 medium sized organic banana (this helps to make the shake a bit thicker and like a milkshake)

♥ A dash of cinnamon

♥ A handful of ice about half way up the glass

♥ 1/4 cup of almond milk

♥ 1 scoop of protein powder

♥ 1 scoop of BCAA & Glutamine powder

Let it blend up all the ice for about 30 seconds. This will get the shake nice and smooth and frothy like a milk shake. once it is done you will be able to grab it and go! That’s why I love the Nutribullet, you drink out of the same glass you use to blend with unlike large conventional blenders that make more of a mess. I leave it out on my counter and use it every single day! it’s one of the best gifts I have ever received!

I like to drink my shakes after a workout for breakfast or mid day as a snack between meals. The protein helps me to continue to grow lean muscle without the extra calories and fat. I also feel very full from drinking a full one of these shakes so it helps me from snacking, especially at my office during work when you can get the urge to go to the vending machine.
