Homemade Oats and Cookies and Cream Protein Bar Recipe
Tis the season to make delicious baked goods for holiday gatherings, work pot luck events and treats when guests stop by. In order to stick to your diet and workout routine I made this great recipe of a high protein oatmeal bar that you can make that is super tasty! Not only will this fill you up between meals (due to the oats) but it is also a good source of protein as well. The main powder base is using Cookies and Cream BodyTech Whey Tech Pro 24 protein powder which is high in protein and low in calories and fat. I also use some other ingredients that are healthy/good fats, protein and antioxidants as well. This is easy to make and bake and serve!
Ingredients needed to make this protein bar recipe:
Whey Tech Pro 24 protein in Cookies and Cream flavor (2 scoops) – click here
2 handfuls of raw unsalted almonds
3-5 dashes of cinnamon powder
2 packets of sugar in the raw
2 tbsp of whole wheat baking flour
Coconut shavings
3 tbsp of melted coconut oil
4 egg whites (12 tbsp of liquid egg whites)
1/2 cup of almond milk
handful of dried cranberries
1 and 1/2 cup of oatmeal or oats
BodyTech Whey Tech Pro 24 is 24 grams of protein per scoop and only 1 gram of sugar. It is also very low calorie and a really great protein for baking. I also like the Nature’s Promise organic oats to use for my oatmeal ingredient and McCormick’s ground cinnamon. Any time I bake I use cinnamon, it has some really great health benefits.
You will melt the coconut oil into a liquid and use 3 tbsp and add it to the oats, almonds, cranberries and whole wheat flour.
These are all really great foods for healthy fats and protein sources. Coconut oil and almonds are great sources of healthy fats for your diet.
Mix it all together in a bowl and spray your baking tray and heat the oven to 375 degrees. Spread the mixture evenly all over the pan.
Before putting in the oven sprinkle some shaved coconut on the top. This tastes delicious once it bakes and adds a nice flavor to the bars. plus it makes them look really festive in the holiday season.
Cut your bars into the size you choose. I would recommend 10-12 per small to medium sized baking sheet. Then put on a dish and enjoy! You can also leave these for Santa, he may enjoy some protein bars instead of cookies this year!
Wish you all a very happy & healthy holiday season. It’s good to treat yourself every once in awhile. Don’t be afraid to enjoy some yummy holiday foods, but make sure to keep balanced. Everything is okay in moderation and keep on top of your calories and macros by using a food calculator like MyFitnessPal. These bars are about 140 calories each and close to 12 grams of protein per bar. I like these in the morning instead of a bowl of oatmeal. They keep me full and curb my cravings during the morning hours.
