It’s all in the shoes – Top Picks for Shoes on Your Wedding Day
Wedding planning can be hectic – so many details, checklists, deadlines that a bride’s head can surely spin faster than your wedding day will pass by. One of the funnest parts of choosing the various elements for my look on my wedding day (besides my wedding dress) is picking out my wedding shoes. I love shoes, what girl doesn’t, but your bridal heels are a great way to add some personality to your look. Shoes are also a signature photo taken on every wedding day during the bride’s preparation so making sure your heels pull in your look, theme, colors is also a great idea. Another thing to keep in mind when choosing the shoes you want to wear on your wedding day is comfort. While a particular pair of heels may look good on the website or in the store, you will be in those shoes for 10+ hours on your wedding day so they must fit right and be comfortable to wear. Many brides opt to change their shoes once they are at the reception, dancing away, but I plan to keep my heels on all night long so making sure they feel good is important.
You will want to decide the type of heel you want to wear
– How high will your heel be (keep in mind the height of your groom with you in heels)
– Will you want a platform inside the shoe for some more height (if you are a shorter bride, like me, and want some more lift without a heel that is too high)
– Do you want peep toe, exposed toe or completely closed (depending on the time of year of your wedding some brides may opt for completely closed toe heels)
– Do you want something strappy? Or do you want a strap on the ankle to keep your shoe on properly all night?
– Will you want open back or closed back? (Some brides might want open to prevent any blisters with new shoes)
So many things go into deciding which shoe to wear with your wedding dress but this is a super fun part of the planning process. I must have looked at shoes on Pinterest for months and also on a few websites as well. I decided that I wanted shoes that would match my wedding colors, not my dress – so I set out to find a pair of blush pink or dusty rose shoes. I wanted my shoes to pop against my ivory dress and knew it would add something fun to my look. Its always cute to see the bride lift up her dress and see some color jump out, which is what I have seen more lately with wedding shoes. A bright color (like a blue pair of Monolo Blahnicks ala Carrie Bradshaw “something blue” heels) can turn a traditional/classic look into something with a bit of flair and edginess.
Below is a list of my top picks for bridal shoes with links to purchase. I will also share at the very end of this blog post which shoes I ordered for my wedding! I am so excited for them to arrive and to put those pretty things on my feet. I have to admit that it took me a bit to order as I was nervous I would find something I liked more, but you always have the option to return your shoes as long as you don’t wear them, but I suggest that once you try them on and love them – stop looking for other shoes! Stick with your choice and don’t be tempted to find another pair you might like.

For me, I decided to get my wedding shoes from Badgley Mischka. I have to say that of all the designers out there for wedding shoes these were my absolute favorite. They make beautiful, classic and romantic shoes for brides and because I was looking for a pink/rose colored this designer had a ton for me to choose from. I decided to go with a shoe with a strap around the ankle, to keep me securely in my heels all night. I didn’t want my shoes to fall off or my ankle to roll so that was something I went with when deciding. I also wanted a heel but nothing more than 4″ (they are exactly 4 inches!) as that tends to make my legs and back hurt after a long time on my feet. My flowers for my wedding will be soft and romantic, with mostly peonies so my shoes played off of the floral and angelic theme. So my shoes that I ordered are below, and I am so excited for them to arrive in the mail!
