Berry Delicious Vanilla Protein Smoothie – Nutribullet and Protein Energy

A daily dose of delicious and nutritious – Plus it’s PURPLE and that’s my favorite color

Morning smoothies are all the rage, just kidding I just felt like writing that, LOL. They are really good though and taste delicious and you can make a ton of different shakes using various fruits, protein powder flavors and types of milk. I personally always use unsweetened almond milk; either unflavored or vanilla flavored. I prefer almond milk to cow milk so the almond milk is a fixture in my fridge at all times. (I am not “anti” cow milk, but if I do have to use it I make sure it’s organic non fat). I prefer protein shakes/smoothies over straight up fruit or vegetable smoothies. I have to say that I attempted to get into the juicing thing when I first got my Nutribullet, however it just wasn’t for me. I prefer to eat my fruits and vegetables – there is not one vegetable I don’t like so instead of drinking my kale or spinach I prefer to eat it. However, I drink at least 1-2 protein shakes per day and the Nutribullet allows me to add a few extra ingredients for thickness and for flavor, to make them more like a milkshake which I love! This is also good for those of you who are just starting to use protein powder and want to make sure that you really like it, so adding a few fruits to the mix and some ice and water really helps to make it more enjoyable.

When I came home from the gym I was tired, fatigue but wasn’t ready to have a full blown “food” meal. So I decided to start my day with a protein smoothie shake to get some protein and nutrients in without having to eat yet. Sometimes after a hard cardio and core workout I don’t want to put food in my stomach right after, but I want to put something in my belly. This was the perfect combination for me to make since it was super fast and I could drink it while I was getting ready for work. The Nutribullet is great for quick, easy, on the go shakes and it’s a life saver on days like today.

Today’s shake I used the smaller cup since I didn’t want to fill up the full one on an empty stomach. For this shake I used:

♥ 1 handful of ice

♥1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

♥ 1/2 cup of bottled water

♥ 2 scoops of Optimum Nutrition Protein Energy Vanilla Latte (Protein + Caffeine!) – click here

♥ 6-8 frozen blackberries that I bought fresh but chose to freeze

The shake will start off white looking but once the blades start to shred it all up it turns into this beautiful purple color from the blackberries! I love pretty, colorful protein shakes don’t you? The berries are good for fiber and antioxidants and the protein is good because I need up to 135+ grams of it a day and this one shake gave me over 24 grams with the almond milk.

It took me less than 1 minute to make this shake as you will see from the quick video below. I highly recommend getting yourself a Nutribullet to make really fun shakes like this that you will enjoy.
