I wanted to write a quick blog post to share with you all what a great experience I had on my Raymour & Flanigan #RFBloggers shopping trip in Secaucus, New Jersey! I had visited the store on Saturday March 7th during a very busy weekend sale. The store has so much energy and excitement and was decorated with lots of signage and balloons. I picked the Secaucus store location since it is right by my office and very easy to get to from Route 3. The store is extremely big and has a huge variety of furniture for every room in your home. When I arrived I was welcomed with open arms (literally because I love to hug everyone I meet!) by Lorrie the sales woman who was going to be my right hand woman for my shopping experience. I also was greeted by Reg who is the store manager and he was so friendly and helpful as well. The entire team at the Secaucus Raymour & Flanigan was top notch, I can’t say enough nice things about them and their team.
When I arrived I had in my mind to look for a few items to update my home office (second bedroom) and my living room. I had a few things I had found on their website that I thought would be great additions, but when you visit the actual showroom your creative mind just starts flowing! It was hard to contain myself with all the ideas I was coming up with and the best part about the showroom is you really get great ideas for how to pair items together, color palettes, wall arts and decorations and even inspiration on how to lay out your furniture in each room. Lorrie was great because she came with me around the store to first view each area and then helped me and my fiance to try to get a bit more focused on what room to start with first. If it wasn’t for Lorrie I might have wound up spending five hours in the store (though we did stay for a good two hours I believe, at least!)
Walking around I really enjoyed all of the accessories I was seeing like really cute book ends, stackable books, beautiful sun burst wall mirrors and throw pillows. I plan to go back and stock up on some of those items in the coming months! I think people forget that Raymour & Flanigan have a ton of great pieces to add to your home decor and I was pleasantly surprised at how many great little items they have throughout the store! Below are some of the amazing pieces that I photographed as I walked around the store:
We decided that for our living room we really needed something to help fill up the empty space we had on the long wall where we currently have our TV mounted. While we do have a small media chest underneath for now, it is simply too small and it leaves the wall feeling quite bar. As we walked around the store we were looking at some various options: media/entertainment wall units, a small kitchen table or a long media unit that would sit under the TV. The wall units were very nice, however none came in the color black, which we were searching for to match our current living room tables and coffee table. So we decided to nix that idea and move on to a kitchen table. We thought about it for awhile and thought that adding a small kitchen table could be a nice idea, however it would also take up a good amount of walking space in our living room. We walked around the store some more and stumbled up on this amazing fireplace unit, in black, long and sleek/modern! It was absolutely perfect for our living room. Not only is it a long enough piece to fill up the “dead space” in our wall but it was also black, modern and a focal point for the room. While it was quite pricey, we knew that this piece would be a statement piece in our living room and one we would enjoy for years to come. This was the first item we added to our shopping list and both me and my fiance absolutely loved it!

Now that we had our living room big piece selected it was time to start thinking about what to do with our second bedroom/home office. Currently it has a large L shaped wood desk that we previously purchased from Raymour & Flanigan. We loved this desk, but we quickly realized it was taking up so much room and since the desk is only used by my fiance to work from home a few nights a week, we were really wasting this room and this space. At first we wanted to build around the desk and make this a real home office with book cases and a file cabinet and lounge chair. After discussion with me and my fiance, as well as some great input from Lorrie our sales woman, we decided that the home office room should be more usable for everyone. We wanted to find a way to still have a desk and use the room to “work” but also a room that everyone can enjoy, even guests we have stop by.
After looking around we found a great set up of a lounge room/home office and it gave us some great inspiration! We found a sectional black leather couch that could easily fit in our second room and a very sleek and modern desk to match that would fit perfectly in the room as well. We decided to get the couch and the desk and have since decided to sell our current L-shaped desk to make more room for hanging out, watching tv, reading, etc. We have a flat screen TV which we have yet to mount so we plan to put that up in the room and make it a home office/hang out space for everyone to enjoy! The photo above is the set up we really liked, and we actually have that coffee table at home already and love it! It is also from Raymour & Flanigan.
We decided on the Velano 2 piece Leather Sectional Set in Black – click here. After that we decided to also get the Innovation 48″ Computer Desk which will fit nicely in the room with the sectional. The desk has a nice simple style so it can look like a table as well as a great computer desk. – click here.
I am so excited for our furniture to arrive so that we can show you the before and after photos of our living room and home office/spare room. It is going to be so fun to see these rooms change and really come to life thanks to Raymour & Flanigan. I am really thankful to have been chosen to do our Newlywed Makeover with the help of the team and really make our space fun, modern and functional. I highly recommend visiting an actual showroom, even if you aren’t in sure yet what you want to buy or what you want to do in your home, it really does give you tons of great ideas and inspiration. Stay tuned for my makeover post with before and after photos in the coming weeks! My furniture will be delivered on March 28th, just in time for my birthday weekend!
