As a part of the Influenster community of bloggers I am sometimes selected to receive some really wonderful samples to test and try and then share a review with my readers. Recently I was selected to be a reviewer of some amazing new luxury beauty items from Yves Saint Laurent – as you can imagine when my box arrived I was so excited to rip it open and test these babies out. YSL makeup is one line that I truly love, though I have to admit I don’t buy much of it since I try to avoid spending a ton on makeup since my drawers are FULL currently – but their lipsticks and glosses are to die for! I had sampled a few for my wedding and fell in love with the quality of their beauty products. This was a treat to get to try out two of their skin care items as part of the #YSLToucheEclat Influesnter VoxBox. I received these items for free in return for an open and honest review, which is below.
What was included in my VoxBox:
1. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Perfector – link $55.00
The first blur on-the-go. Instantly transforms from a balm to a powder to sweep away shine and imperfections.
Use three ways:
Alone as an all-over complexion perfector
To set makeup
As a mattifying touch up during the day
2. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer – link $88.00
The first radiance boosting primer.
Formulated with four nourishing oils, skin is left incredibly soft without greasy residue.
Immediately pores look diminished, skin feels smoother and skin tone is more even and luminous.
Review & First Impressions:
I have to say the packaging for these products is absolutely beautiful! If you are girly like me the pink compact case was just the sweetest looking thing ever. I am going to keep this in my makeup bag long after the product is gone just because its a beautiful mirror to have on hand for quick touch ups. The blur perfector pad applicator actually doesn’t seem to fit well in this compact. My negative feedback on this is that it would not close for me with the pad inside and I was not sure how this would work if wanted to take this with me somewhere on the go. I think the white applicator pad is just a bit too thick to fit inside because I could not get the thing to close.
I do have oily skin, so I put a bit of this on mid day in hopes that it would help to keep my shine at bay, but I did still get a bit oily at the end of the day. It seemed to work best when I used it on my t-zone before applying any makeup. Otherwise I usually like to use a blog powder or blot paper mid day to remove excess oil. There was no smell or color to this product which I liked. It is quite pricey, at $55.00 so for me I would likely not purchase unless it was able to be used throughout the day to prevent and stop oil or shine. Overall though the packaging was beautifully done and will surely be used as a compact by me in the future – the pink and gold are just too cute to pass up!
The primer feels amazing on my skin and I really liked the product as a base before applying heavier makeup in the evening, or on a night on the town. It goes on lightweight and does not feel greasy or thick. It disappeared into my skin very quickly. I used this on my t-zone area and concentrated on the nose and cheek area where I tend to see more of my pores. This reminds me a bit of the Benefit Porefessional Primer (link) which I love to use on the same areas to minimize the size of my pores. This makes for a really smooth surface when applying heavier coverage with foundation. It had lasting power all night and while this item in full size is around $85.00 a little does go a long way, so I am sure the full size would last you a few months easily. I can tell that this sample size will last me a good 4-6 months since I wouldn’t use it everyday but more when I plan to use more makeup.
