Big Red House Soup Review – Eat Local. Shop Local.

As a New Jersey native, born and raised, I love to support businesses opening up in my local community who are doing great things. I recently was contacted by Big Red House Soups to test out their four delicious flavors which were delivery straight to my door. I came home from work to a little brown bag waiting at my door step and just couldn’t wait to dive right into these with a big spoon. I love soup, I think I could live on soup as a full blown meal for weeks and weeks and never get bored. I love soup even in the summer time, but in the winter it’s just the perfect thing to warm you up on a cold day, curled up on the couch with the dog and a good movie.

What makes Big Red House Soups so Different?

We make vegan and vegetarian soups that are awesome!!
We produce all of our soups locally in Hackensack, NJ.
We make many varieties that are gluten free, dairy free and under 100 calories per 8 oz serving.
We never use bullion or soup base.
We make our own veggie broth from scratch.
Our soups contain no preservatives, thickeners or additives.
Our soups contain many organic ingredients and we get as much as we can from our local farmers market.
None of our soups contain any added sugar.

After receiving all four large tubs of soup the first one I was dying to try was the Super Tomato Soup. I can’t even tell you how hearty, creamy and delicious this was. I decided I wanted a bit more vegetable in it and added a handful of raw organic spinach and mixed it over a medium flame in a pot. It came out so good and me and my husband shared it together. It was enough for two people.
dfwI also tried the Dairy Free Vegetable Soup and was impressed with that as well. I love anything that is super creamy, with a good broth and has veggies in it. Like I said, I could live off of soup if you let me and these are just so darn tasty it’s easy to eat healthy. The soup was super creamy but was dairy free, so right away I was so impressed. Usually soup that is this creamy has a milk or cream base, but this is great for those of you who have to or like to avoid dairy. You can taste all the veggies in this soup and it is hearty and super good! This paired well with some broccoli rabe and grass fed organic beef chili.

I was not paid to endorse this brand or products, I just received each flavor of soup free of charge and if I loved it I offered to share a review with my readers. I have to say I really do love this brand and would say that it’s a great option if you live in the NJ area to check out where you can find some and taste them for yourself.

BIG RED HOUSE
Emily Pancer started the fledgling company in 2011 and after a few bumps in the road, she has been off and running since April 2012.
Emily used to be a cake maker. Since she was busy baking and taking care of three kids, she would try to make healthy meals for her family that would last a few days. Soup quickly became a staple in her home. Now on any given day at her big red house in Glen Rock, you’ll find her busily testing recipes for her artisanal soup business, appropriately named BIG RED HOUSE Soup. With infinite flavor combinations and a plethora of healthy ingredients, she loves the flexibility, creativity and all the goodness that goes into making soup. Every one of her rotating selections of seasonal flavors is made from scratch, starting with the stock, and loaded with hearty, all-natural ingredients.Healthy is the name of the game here, which means lower sodium, preservative-free soups loaded with fresh vegetables (always local and organic, when possible), organic beans, grains and corn and hormone-free meats. Many can be enjoyed by those adhering to vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free diets as well. Getting your soup on has never been simpler—or more delicious!
