How to make your Christian Louboutin Shoes More Comfortable

They say that beauty is pain and that sometimes we just have to “grin and bear it”, but honestly if I am going to spend $700-1,000 on a pair of shoes they better feel awesome on my feet. I recently received a pair of Christian Louboutin Pigalle black leather heels from my husband as my Christmas present. I had wanted this classic, sexy style for so long and was so excited to receive them. I think they look perfect with a form fitting black midi dress or even with a pair of destroyed denim jeans. I was eager to wear them on New Year’s Eve and break them in. What a terrible mistake! I almost had to be carried back to my car at the end of the night, and not because I had too much champagne when the ball dropped, but because I could no longer even put pressure on my feet because my heels were killing me! When I tell you if felt like my feet were crushed up in a vice I’m not even exaggerating.

I was so disappointed because for so long I wanted these heels, but I was surprised just how uncomfortable they were! I started to read online that the “So Kate” & “Pigalle” Christian Louboutins were infamous for making women’s toes cry in agony. I knew there had to be a better way, I just knew that I wouldn’t have to cringe and cry every time I attempted to wear them out on the town. I did find an answer and a solution that I wanted to share with you red-sole wearing ladies.

I couldn’t understand why my Christian Louboutins were so damn painful to walk in. I could last maybe an hour or two in this particular style but then that was it. I have two other pairs of Louboutin Bianca heels which fit just fine. I have never had an issue with them crushing my toes so badly. If you are having issues with wearing the Pigalle or So Kate heels here is my trick:

invest in a wooden shoe stretcher (roughly $20-$40)

I purchased a set of wooden shoe stretchers on Amazon and waited patiently for them to arrive. I had never stretched any shoes before, but I was willing to give it a go. I had already scuffed up the bottom of my heels so I knew I couldn’t return them, and I loved the style so much I had to figure out a way to make them work. I bought a heel stretcher that was just my size (5.5-6.5). What I do is every evening I place the shoe stretcher into the shoe and slowly twist the handle until it is snug, but not too stretched that it might damage the leather. I let them sit over night like that and then the next day, take the stretcher out and let the shoe sit. The following day I repeat the process and twist maybe one more time to stretch a bit more.

Over time you will find that the front area, which seems to be what is crushing your little toes, gets softer and more stretched and the shoes become much easier to wear. It is a small investment to make sure your feet feel good in those pricey heels. There is no point in spending all that money on heels if they just sit in the closet. I hope this tip will help and you try it out with your shoes.

  1. You said the wooden stretcher was a size 5.5-6.5 which is your shoe size. But what size did you buy in the so Kate’s ?

  2. My heels are the Pigalles. THey are a size 6.5 and they are still slightly tight. The shoe is NOT ever going to be comfy lol. It is the most uncomfortable Louboutin I own. The stretcher def helped though

  3. I just couldn’t anymore. I tried stretching, I tried blow drying, but then I was like “Umm, spent over 600 dollars for this damn pair of shoes, shouldn’t they be comfortable for more than 15 minutes?” so, yeah, giving them up. Forever. Shall never buy another pair.

  4. The so kate and pigalle are not comfortable – at all. There are other styles that are so nice to wear. I have two pairs of the Biancas and can wear them walking for miles – no issues at all. It’s a sin but i cringe if i consider wearing the so kates 🙁 it’s so sad because they are so pretty.
