A healthy tuna fish salad without mayo

We all know that tuna is a high protein, low carb and low calorie meal option, but sometimes it’s good to test out new ways to make it taste great and still remain healthy. Once you start tossing in tons of mayo this dish can go from super health to super fattening quick! I don’t have mayo in my house and don’t use it in any of my foods, but the truth is you don’t need it to make tuna taste good. Today after my workout I wanted a quick lunch that was packed with protein so I took out 2 cans of tuna (one was for me and one for my husband), some celery, cucumber, salt, pepper, lettuce, apple cider vinegar, red onion and made a quick meal.

I like to use organic apple cider vinegar in my salads instead of other vinegars due to its many health benefits including aiding in digestion. I put 4 tbsp of apple cider vinegar in the bowl, threw in some onion, cucumber, pink himalayan sea salt, pepper and laid it all on a bed of lettuce. This is such a high protein meal and so quick to make and eat on the go.

I like to buy tuna in water and not in oil and always look for tuna that is non-gmo. I believe I got these at Stop & Shop in the Nature’s Promise section. They were around $2-3 a can but the tuna is super fresh and you can taste the difference in this compared to other brands.
