Spring Hair Refresh – Brunette Bayalage Ombré Lob

For those of you who follow me on Snapchat you may have seen my posts this weekend at the hair salon and shortly after. Even though I have been back and forth about lightening my hair again I decided this weekend to warm it up a bit. I visit my go-to salon which is Hair Ambition in Nutley, New Jersey – they do my hair for everything and Crystal the owner always does my hair. She is also the gem who did my hair on my wedding day too. We decided to touch up my roots with a warm/neutral brown and then add in some more light pieces with a bayalage application to do some ombre lights. I absolutely love how this came out and for my hair I prefer the lightness to always be on the ends, leaving my roots dark and making it less damaging to my overall hair. My hair tends to get dry and break a lot, so having the lightening on the ends is great, since I can always chop it off and start fresh if they get too damaged.

The process took about 2 1/2 hours since I had to have the roots all dyed, set, wash, dry my hair, then apply the ombre bayalage, set, wash and then blow dry all over. It was well worth the wait and I am really happy with how it came out. She also used some new mesh strips to apply the lightening on my hair, which allowed the hair to breath unlike tin foil. Tin foil also seems to pull my hair out when they remove it so this was really light and made the color lighten up really well.

For post lightening I use the following hair care products on my ombre hair:

Biosilk Color Therapy Cool Blonde Shampoo

Argan Oil Hair Mask once a week

Avocado oil for the ends as needed

One & Only Argan Oil Hair Spray

Silk 19 Hair Conditioner

For curling I use a Nume Clipless Curling Iron

Here is how my hair looked right after I left the salon. My bangs are almost completely grown out now, I have been growing them for two years and ever since my wedding I have only been slightly trimming them. I debate all the time cutting them again, but for the summer it is just easier to have them long to pull back or curl backwards, away from my face. Every time I have ever grown my bangs out, I get the itch and cut them but I keep talking myself out of it since this is the longest I have gone without cutting them.

I love how the color looks in natural light; much more ash than red/brassy. My hair tends to get brassy when I lighten it, but it’s important to keep up with my hair regiment to keep the color looking its best. It will also lighten over time too in the sunshine.

As for today’s comfy, relaxed look I used:

Green Sweater is from Old Navy FYI on clearance rack 🙂

Foundation: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea (love love love how this gives a beautiful finish)

Blush: Nars Sin

Lipstick: So Select by Mac

Highlight: Hourglass Ambient Light Palette

Setting Powder: Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
