After a hard workout at the gym there’s nothing better than coming home and making a delicious protein shake. Of course you can get one at the gym, but why spend the money there and not know exactly what is being put in the blender? For me making a shake after my workout is fun! I love trying out new ingredients and flavors and last time I checked gyms don’t have all the ingredients that I do in my pantry. I like using lots of super foods, almond butters, almond milks and a variety of protein flavors to make new shake recipes. Today was all about combining two of my favorite flavors: chocolate and cookies and cream!
To make this shake today I used the new BSN Syntha 6 Edge protein powder in the flavor Cookies and Cream. I have always been a fan of the original Syntha 6 Peanut Butter flavor, but I never noticed just how high in fat and carbs it was. Their new Edge line is lower in fat, carbs and calories so for me on a ketogenic friendly diet this was the better options. The flavor is great and tastes like real cookies and cream ice cream!
To make this shake I used the following ingredients and measurements:
1 full scoop of BSN Edge Cookies & Cream protein powder
1/2 tbsp Nativas cacao powder
1/2 cup of Orgain organic unsweetened vanilla almond milk
2 scoops of ice
6 ounces of water
1 tbsp of Walden Farms Calorie Free Chocolate Syrup
1/4 tbsp of Nativas cacao nibs
1 tbsp D’s Naturals Brownie Batter Fluffbutter almond butter
Combine all ingredients into a blender (I use a Breville blender which is amazing for protein shakes!)
