How to make a healthy meat loaf recipe for dinner tonight
Meat loaf doesn’t have to be boring and it also doesn’t have to be unhealthy. In less than 35 minutes you can make a tasty and low fat, high protein meat loaf for your meal prep or for tonight’s dinner. Meat loaf is a great option because you can cut it up and use it for a few lunches during the week and it reheats really well. I also like to add tons of vegetables to my meat loaf mix so that not only am I getting a very high protein and lean dish, but I also can put some veggies in it without feeling like I am eating a ton of them. It’s almost as if they are hidden in the meat loaf and you don’t even realize you are eating them. This would be great for kids who have a harder time enjoying their vegetables.
How to make a quick and easy healthy meat loaf:
– Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and get a baking tray or tin sprayed with a olive oil spray or coconut oil spray
– In a large bowl you are going to add the following ingredients:
♥ 1 package of 99% lean ground turkey
♥ 2 tbsp or organic ketchup
♥ 1 tbsp of organic yellow mustard
♥ sea salt and pepper ( a few dashes of each)
♥ 1 whole egg
♥ chopped white onion, celery and carrots
♥ 1/4 cup of whole wheat bread crumbs
♥ Mrs. Dash onion & garlic seasoning
– Mix everything in the bowl, making sure to kneed all of the seasonings and ingredients into the ground turkey
– take your baking tray and make two mounds, shaped like an oval and place on the trays
– once shaped sprinkle some Mrs. Dash seasoning on the outside so that as it bakes it have a great flavor and crispiness on the outer layer
– place into the oven and let bake for 30 minutes
When your meat loaf is ready take it out of the oven and let it sit for about 5-7 minutes before cutting it into pieces. You can then serve and enjoy!
