Everyone always says, no pain no gain. While this may be true, there is a difference between pain working out and suffering a serious injury. An injury that could stop you exercising for weeks or months. It might even prevent you from completely an exercise you love ever again. Remember To Stretch

It’s amazing how many people forget to stretch when they are working out. This is quite typical in weightlifters. By not stretching they are not warming up their muscles. If you don’t do this it’s easy to strain a muscle in your arm, back or chest when trying to lift a heavy object. When this happens, it could cause you to drop the weight and this can be incredibly dangerous. You should warm up all your muscles before you start exercising. By doing this, you will be able to accomplish a lot more.

Don’t Push Yourself Too Far

Our bodies have limits to what they can and can’t do. You might see someone next to you in the gym lifting more and decide to increase the challenge for your own body. But this is a mistake because you don’t know their circumstances. They might have been exercising and training for longer than you. They might also be able to lift more due to perfecting mind over matter. You have no idea what their strength is compared to yours. If you lift more than your body is capable of or push yourself further, you could suffer a severe injury. Many weightlifters now have chronic back pain, simply because they took how much they were lifting too far too fast. If you suffer from lower back pain, then there are treatments you can try to get the pain relief you need.

Eat Well

One of the biggest mistakes people make exercising usually occurs when they are also trying to lose weight. They limit their diet to the point where their body is not getting protein or vitamins. When this occurs, their body is no longer strong enough for strenuous forms of exercise. They still try to complete their regular exercise routine but their bodies are no longer capable. Their muscles are strained, and they wake up the next day in severe pain. A lot of people mistake this pain for muscle growth. Actually, it’s the sign of a serious injury.

Warm Down

Lastly, the warm up is just as important as the warm down. When you finish exercising, you shouldn’t immediately relax. You need to complete a few light exercises to let your body wind down. It’s important to do this otherwise again, you might strain your muscles. Typically, this happens long after you finish exercising when you’re completing a normal activity. Be aware of this and always fit a ten minute warm down into your routine.

I hope you find this advice useful, keeping healthy and staying fit.

  1. Hi there! I really enjoy your blog. Thanks a lot for sharing 🙂 could you share some ideas of what you do for stretching and warming up? I have a range of ones for lower body but it would be great to see what you do for upper body. B.
